"40 Hours" - Chapter 5It was noon on Sunday and Pete found himself once again trying to stare down the looming face of Bluegrove Gardens Retirement Home. It seemed more ominous today, under the low clouds of an overcast sky. Pete could smell rain. It seemed to be holding off, giving him the chance to escape indoors before the heavenly torrents came pouring down. He rang the doorbell.   
Sal greeted him with a large grin and a happy: “Better get in before the rain starts!” She led him down the hall to Room 6, patted his shoulder. “Enjoy!”   
Pete knocked.   
“What?” came the snappy response from the other "40 Hours" - Chapter 5

"40 Hours" - Chapter 4Still trying to wrap his mind around the idea of being an independent runaway at seven-years-old, Pete watched Wells release three consecutive smoke rings. There were so many questions bubbling up to the front of his mind: Where did you live? How did you eat? Did the orphanage ever come looking for you?   
Instead, the question he gave voice to was this: “Can you teach me to do that?”   
Wells’ eyebrows furrowed and a slight scowl returned to his face. “Just when I thought you might be an okay kid you go and get stupid again. I’m not gonna let you start smoking just so you can learn to blow a damn "40 Hours" - Chapter 4

"40 Hours" - Chapter 3“Is Wells your real name?” Pete asked. He was sitting in a cheap folding chair that had been leaning against the wall in the back of the small closet. The old man had settled into the armchair. He pulled out a pack of cigarettes, lit one, and slowly inhaled. He held his breath for several seconds, then released a single smoke ring before exhaling fully.   
“It’s been my name for 81 years,” he replied.   
“So I guess it is then.”   
“I’m 88.” He blew another smoke ring.

Not LA

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

So, this past weekend was "Not LA," the anti-independence day festival/birthday celebration at my aunt's place in Alton, Ontario. There was a feature performance by Pull the Goalie: a duo made up of Rex Goudie and Michael Theodore, two very talented musicians. There was also a surprise performance by Derek Sharp too.

In addition to this late afternoon concert, we enjoyed some warbly camp songs around the bonfire into the wee hours of the night. It was tons of fun... we even managed to hook Rex in for one final song as he was leaving. Who can resist Barrett's Privateers?

Hey Libby! I hope you get this message, I don't often use FB if I can help it :) To put up literature on dA:

1. Open your document and copy all the info in it using the COPY button after right-clicking.

2. Open dA. See the box under where the deviations pop up? Click the little box to the right, labelled TEXT or something similar.

3. PASTE your text in by right-clicking and pasting. Tada!

If it doesn't work, give me a call or something and I can help, but that should do it :)

How do I make some of the text italics? Under the textbox it says but I'm not sure how to use it.

You do this... Say I wanted to make the word THIS italicized? I would put these around the word: < i > < /i > with the word in the middle. I had to put spaces between the i's and the little arrow things to make it show up, but just smush it all together and make a sandwich with the thing you want italicized as the filling. The same goes for bolding a word, too - just swap out the i for a b
